What the script contained
Morisaki says the English script indicated only that his character should choose Gundam in Japanese. On set he was asked to supply the actual Japanese wording, so he worked through options with an interpreter.
Why that line
He considered the familiar launch phrase but settled on 'Ore wa Gundam de iku'—rendered in the film's English subtitles as 'I choose the Gundam.' He wanted speed and resolve without making the anime reference feel like a joke.
