What is actually new
The one-night presentation combines the two 2006 episodes into one movie-length cut. BBC Studios says it restores deleted material previously available on DVD and adds extended footage plus an interview with director and producer James Strong.
Where and when it plays
The event is scheduled for Doctor Who Day on November 23 in more than 1,000 cinemas across the UK, Ireland, United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. Tickets are due to go on sale September 25 at 9 a.m. local time.
The flip side
David Tennant and Billie Piper return through the existing Tenth Doctor and Rose story, not through new performances. Calling it a new movie without that distinction would overstate what BBC Studios announced.
